Disclosed is a computer-implemented method of maintaining a database of user profiles based on user interaction with third-party systems. The method includes: maintaining by a first system a first database comprising user profile records; accessing from the first database a unique user profile associated with a unique user, the unique user profile comprising personal information related to the unique user and information representing at least one entity of interest to the unique user; automatically collecting, by an agent module executing on a processor associated with the first system, data associated with the unique user based at least in part on the unique user’s interaction with a system unassociated with the first system. The collecting of unique user data includes automatically collecting data from an electronic mail system including an electronic address book, the electronic address book being associated with the unique user and including a plurality of contacts and a corresponding set of contact information. The method also includes determining, by the processor, a strength score representative of the strength of the relationship between the unique user and one of the plurality of contacts by analysing a set of email traffic between one or more organizations and the unique user and extracting a set of data indicative of one or more of timing, type, and amount of contact between the one of the plurality of contacts and the unique user. The processor automatically evaluates the collected data and searches available databases other than the first database to identify potential items of interest to the unique user based at least in part on the unique user profile and the collected data, at least one identified potential item of interest being related to an entity of interest to the unique user. The processor then automatically determining a set of predicted items of interest to the unique user from the identified potential items of interest based at least in part on the strength score; and presents, at a display associated with the unique user, data representing the set of predicted items of interest. Computer systems and programs for performing this method are also disclosed. |
