The present invention relates to a composition for preventing and treating obesity and hyperlipidemia, containing Curcuma longa and Dendropanax morbifera LEV. as an active ingredient. More specifically, provided is a composition composed of 30-40% of roots and stems of Curcuma longa, 30-40% of burdock roots, 10-20% of onion, and 5-15% of Dendropanax morbifera LEV. The composition of the present invention exhibits synergistic weight reducing effects in vivo. The composition also exhibits total cholesterol inhibitory effects and also influences on hyperlipidemia. Thus, the composition of the present invention can be useful as a pharmaceutical composition or a functional health food for preventing or treating obesity or arteriosclerotic vascular disease including hypercholesterinemia.
