A grinding apparatus (10) for grinding a floor comprises a body or chassis (11) to which is wheels (12) are attached and at least a first and second grinding head (14, 15) mountable to the body (11). Each grinding head (14, 15) incorporates three rotating grinding tools in the form of grinding discs (20). The grinding tools 20 are mounted on a plate or ring that rotates in addition to the rotating tools. Each grinding head (14, 15) has a separate driving mechanism. The first and second grinding heads (14, 15) are mountable to the body (11) in a manner that enables the position of the first and second grinding heads to be varied relative to the body. This is achieved by connecting the heads (14, 15) to a common mounting arm (21) articulates with respect to the body (11) via a pivot mounting (22) to the body. Also, each of the heads can be raised or lowered independently of one another. |
