PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water pump capable of positively restricting leakage of fluid discharged by an impeller toward a suction port.SOLUTION: An impeller 2 comprises a shroud 24 having a fluid suction port 23 at its central part; a hub plate 22 arranged to be faced against the shroud 24 and a plurality of major vanes 10 arranged between the hub plate 22 and the shroud 24, applying a centrifugal force to the fluid sucked through the suction port 23 and discharging it in a radial direction of the impeller 2. The plurality of major vanes are curved from each of central parts in a radial direction and extended. A clearance S is arranged between the shroud and the inner surface of a pump casing and one side surface 24a of the shroud is provided with a plurality of auxiliary vanes 11 applying a centrifugal force to the fluid in the clearance S through rotation of the impeller 2 to be projected therefrom. Each of the auxiliary vanes extends in a slant away from the central part in respect to the radial direction so as to be overlapped on the major vane as seen from a direction of the rotating shaft of the impeller and formed to be more thick than that of the major vane.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
