502,433. Machines for making ropes &c. LARMUTH, J. H. Dec. 18, 1937, No. 35111. [Class 109] Relates to devices for lifting the bobbins of stranding, twisting, lapping, &c. machines. Each bobbin is rolled into place below the cradle where it is to be mounted, along a track 14 and on to a platform with side flanges 17 until checked by a stop pin 23. The flanged platform is mounted on a rod 10 carried by two arms 9, pivoted at 8 to brackets 7. Two telescopically adjustable links 19 are pivoted at 20 to the brackets 7 above the pivots 8 and also, to arms 18 fixed to the rod 10. The arms 9 are suspended from chains 12 which pass over sprockets 24, 25, 24, the ends hanging free, as shown. By turning the shaft 27 the platform and bobbin 15 can be drawn up or let down. The links 19 may be arranged to cause the platform to tip when raised, as shown in dotted lines, so that the flanges of the bobbin press against the stop pin 23. Two adjacent lifting devices may be coupled together so as to be operated from a common shaft 27. In a modification; the platform is lifted by means of four chains, cables, &c. passing over two sprockets which are geared together.
