A multicast protocol optimization method and device, the method comprising: establishing a neighbor tracking table of all members of a downstream router; if receiving a pruning packet transmitted by all the members of the downstream router via a neighbor tracking table, then determining that all the members are offline, and deleting related information of all the members in the neighbor tracking table; and according to the state of the neighbor tracking table, generating a pruning echo packet to return to the downstream router. The technical solution provides a multicast protocol optimization method, thus improving network transmission efficiency, and reducing the burden of an upstream router. |
