PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus for moving and reading which reads an image with high-definition by excluding an influence of a foreign matter, and to provide a control method of the apparatus and a program.SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus performs foreign matter detection on a read image and stores the positions, density, and number of foreign matters. Next, the image reading apparatus detects the background color of a document for each read line, selects a correction target foreign matters in accordance with the density, and performs density correction by interpolation on the basis of the density. The apparatus varies a correction method depending on whether a foreign matter region is a character region or an image region. When the number of the correction target matters is a predetermined number or more, the apparatus corrects foreign matter of the predetermined number, giving priority to a foreign matter more different in density from the back ground color.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
