A protection circuit is provided with a periodicity determination device (14, 114, 214, 314, 414), an off circuit (10, 310), and a control device (13, 11). The periodicity determination device directly or indirectly detects noise superimposed on a first transistor (4, 404) provided with a control terminal, and determines the periodicity of the noise. The off circuit is connected to the control terminal of the first transistor and configured to enable an off operation of the first transistor. The control device disables the off operation of the first transistor by the off circuit if the periodicity determination device determines that the noise has no periodicity, or causes the first transistor to perform the off operation by the off circuit if the periodicity determination device determines that the noise has periodicity. Consequently, the protection circuit makes it possible to draw out ESD energy while stabilizing a circuit operation. |
