The invention relates to a cutting device (1) for cutting an edge strip (2.1) from a running material web (2) in a machine for producing and/or treating the material web (2), in particular a tissue, paper, or board web, comprising at least one cutting element (3), by means of which an edge strip (2.1) can be cut off on an edge side of the material web (2), wherein the edge strip (2.1) can be led away in a lead-away direction (18) deviating from the running direction (16) of the material web (2), wherein at least one blowing nozzle (8) is arranged on the side of the material web (2) facing the cutting element (3), by means of which blowing nozzle at least one blowing air jet (9) can be produced in order to deflect the edge strip (2.1) into the lead-away direction (18). The cutting device (1) according to the invention is characterized in that the blowing nozzle (8) is connected to a compressed-air accumulator (10) in order to supply the blowing nozzle with blowing air and the compressed-air accumulator (10) can be placed under a pressure of more than 6 bar, in particular more than 10 bar.
