The present invention relates to a light emitting diode which is formed on one surface of a substrate of which the other surface is formed with a solar cell, and can be applied with electricity generated from the solar cell for operation. According to the present invention, the light emitting diode includes: a substrate; the light emitting diode formed on one surface of the substrate; and the solar cell formed on the other surface of the substrate. An electrode of the solar cell is electrically connected to an electrode of the light emitting diode through a via hole formed on the substrate. Therefore, electricity generated by the solar cell is used to directly drive the light emitting diode.
