Provided are a streaming application update method and stream computing system, the method comprising: a master node obtains a logic model after update by a streaming application (S501); by means of comparing the updated logic model and the initial logic model, the stream to be adjusted is determined (S502); according to the stream to be adjusted, an update instruction is generated (S503); the generated update instruction is sent to a first worker node, to instruct the first worker node to adjust the direction of the data stream between the PEs distributed on said first worker node (S504). The method accomplishes online updating of a streaming application, with no service disruptions.
