A method for collecting image data for producing immersive video comprises determining a zone of points of view and setting up a set of source points located at the ends of the zone of points of view, as well as placing a scanner of a first set of scanners at each of said source points for sweeping step by step a space by means of sweeping beams, following a succession of azimuthal angles and elevation angles in a range predetermined by the zone of points of view, and determining on the basis of reflected sweeping beams the image data formed by a distance between a point touched by a beam and the scanner which produced the scanning beam in question, and by a colour parameter of said touched point, and storing them in a memory.
