PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a solar battery element, by which an impurity diffusion layer can be formed by a simple and convenient process.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a solar battery element comprises: a step for applying an impurity diffusion layer-forming composition including glass particles including an n-type impurity or p-type impurity and a dispersant onto one face of a semiconductor substrate through a compound-containing layer; a thermal diffusion step for performing a thermal treatment on the semiconductor substrate with the impurity diffusion layer-forming composition applied thereto, thereby forming an impurity diffusion layer; and a step for forming an electrode on a region where the impurity diffusion layer is formed.SELECTED DRAWING: None
