PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary shaft apparatus capable of achieving long-term sealing performance and an electric discharge machine including the rotary shaft apparatus.SOLUTION: A power unit 2 and a speed reducer 3 are arranged inside a casing 1 of a rotary shaft apparatus 24. A bearing support part 7 is juxtaposed in the front end side of the casing 1, and a shaft 5 and a rotary table 6 are fixed to both sides of a bearing part 4, respectively, the shaft 5 and the rotary table 6 being allowed to freely rotate in synchronization with the rotation of a speed reducer 3. A seal mechanism part 8 is provided in the vicinity of a bearing support part 7, and a sealant 9 is disposed inside the seal mechanism part 8. A pipeline 10 for supplying a clean working fluid is provided in the vicinity of the seal mechanism part 8 inside the casing 1. The flowing of the clean working fluid through a space 11 in the seal mechanism part 8 and rotary table 6 prevents a working fluid containing sludge from coming in contact with the sealant 9. The clean working fluid is used when a workpiece is machined by an electric discharge machine.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
