Osteoclast Inhibitors for Knee Conditions

Oral dosage forms of osteoclast inhibitors, such as nitrogen-containing bisphosphonates, can be used to treat or alleviate pain or related conditions.

1. A method of treating knee pain comprising:
a. selecting a patient having knee pain, and:
i. OARSI Grade 0 or Kellgren and Lawrence Grade 0 or Grade 1 of joint space narrowing, orii. pain intensity of 5 or greater measured using the 0-10 NRS or 5 cm or greater using the 10 cm VAS; and b. administering an inhibitor of osteoclast activity to the patient wherein the inhibitor of osteoclast activity is ibandronic acid or risedronic acid.
