The invention relates to a high-speed rotary atomizer (1), wherein at least one turbine wheel (110) is arranged in a housing (130) in a known manner, which turbine wheel can be driven in opposite rotational directions and is connected to a bell (108). Driving or braking compressed air can be applied to the turbine wheel (110) via suitable air channels (112, 114), and the turbine wheel has blades (116), which are optimized in respect of flow for one rotational direction. In one embodiment of the invention, the turbine wheel (110) is designed in such a way that the turbine wheel can be mounted reversibly in two positions, in which the blades (116) have the orientation correct for different rotational directions. In another embodiment, two turbine wheels connected to each other are provided, the blades of which are optimized for different rotational directions and can be supplied with driving and braking air selectively via air chambers that are separate from each other. |
