PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support device which can more appropriately notify a driver of a recommended speed in consideration of traffic congestion without requiring an additional device.SOLUTION: A driving support device calculates a recommended speed which allows an own vehicle to pass a traffic signal in an intersection while the signal is green on the basis of traffic signal display information about traffic signals installed at one or more intersections located forward in a travel direction of the own vehicle, distance information between the own vehicle and the intersections, and a travel speed of the own vehicle, and notifies a driver of the recommended speed. When a difference calculated by subtracting an actual travel distance from a predicted travel distance in the case the vehicle traveled at the recommended speed is greater than a first threshold value, the device determines that traffic congestion is occurring and terminates notification of the recommended speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
