PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mercury holding agent or the like, which can completely hold mercury included in a liquid sample which is stored in a sample container even when the liquid sample mainly formed of carbon hydride is evaporated, thereby capable of accurately analyzing the mercury, in an open atmosphere which is not sealed and outside of a mercury analysis device.SOLUTION: Provided is a mercury holding agent C for holding mercury included in a liquid sample S in mercury analysis of the liquid sample S mainly formed of carbon hydride, in which the mercury holding agent is an active carbon of 10-200 mesh which includes sulfur and/or sulfur component, and is heated to 400-500°C in a gas atmosphere of at least one of nitrogen gas, argon gas, neon gas, and helium gas, and the mercury is removed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
