PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for a vehicular headlight system by which a possibility that the vehicular headlight may damage the retina of the eye of a person can be reduced, even when irradiating light of the vehicular headlight to the person, using a high-brightness light source from when the vehicular headlight is in a non-lighted state, in a state where a periphery of a vehicle is dark.SOLUTION: The control method for a vehicular headlight system, which comprises a high beam light source unit 5, a low beam light source unit 6 and a light fitting control portion 10 for controlling lighting of both light source units, performs: a low beam limited lighting step in which when the light fitting control portion 10 receives an instruction for lighting low beam in a state where the low beam light source unit 6 is not lighted, a low beam limited lighting state, where low beam with radiation brightness lower than radiation brightness at the time of usual lighting is irradiated from the low beam light source unit 6, is started; and a first low beam usual lighting step in which when avoidance response time elapses in a lighted state where low beam is limited, the lighted state where low beam is limited is switched into a low-beam usually lighting state where the low beam with the radiation brightness at the time of usual lighting is irradiated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
