The present invention relates to a metal object detecting device that allows a reception coil to detect a change in magnetic fields, which is induced by a transmission coil, due to an influence of a metal object more sensitively by making the winding directions of the transmission coil and the reception coil perpendicular to each other, thereby effectively detecting the metal object included in an introduced bill bundle. The present invention includes a plurality of transmission coils and a plurality of reception coils that are arranged to face each other while a bill bundle introduced from the rear side of a bill introduction hole is interposed therebetween, an oscillator that applies a current to the transmission coil, a detector that detects a current flowing through the reception coil, and a controller that receives a detection signal from the detector to determine whether the metal object is included in the introduced bill bundle, and the winding direction of the transmission coil and the winding direction of the reception coil are perpendicular to each other. |
