PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water soluble polyvinyl alcohol polymer having improved water solubility having the desired best water solubility for encapsulating various products, such products, especially a film for packaging and encapsulating granular products.SOLUTION: There is provided a polyvinyl alcohol copolymer (PVOH) which is a copolymer of substantially random cold water soluble vinyl alcohol (VOH) and alkyl acrylate (AA), exhibiting cold water film dissolution time of less than 3 minutes and containing no composition draft represented by existence of substantially one peak in a gradient elution chromatography analysis. There is provided the substantially random PVOH containing 2 to 25 mol% of AA, preferably 3 to 10 mol% of AA.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
