A transmission method according to an embodiment of the present disclosure involves: acquiring a video stream with a luminance value that has been quantized by using a hybrid EOTF, and attribute information of said video stream; and decoding the acquired video stream. Further, the transmission method involves transmitting, to a display device, the decoded video stream by designating the dynamic range of luminance on the basis of the acquired attribute information. With this transmission method, it is possible to appropriately display a video on the display device.
