摘要 Provided is a misfire detection method for an internal combustion engine that accurately detects misfires in an internal combustion engine using a mixed gas that is difficult to ignite. This method is characterized by having a step wherein a high voltage excited in a secondary coil of an ignition coil is applied to a spark plug when a primary current has been cut off, a step wherein a discharge spark is generated in the spark plug to which the high voltage has been applied, and a secondary current is detected by a secondary current detection means when the secondary current flows in the secondary coil, and a step wherein an output signal from the secondary current detection means that has detected the secondary current is used by a control means to detect a combustion error in the cylinders, and in the step in which a combustion error is detected, the discharge time is measured from the output signal from the secondary current detection means, and when the measured discharge time is longer than a prescribed value indicating that the rise in the cylinder pressure has occurred normally, this is recognized as a combustion error.
