A traveling control apparatus according to the present invention is provided with: an operation amount calculating unit for calculating the amount of operations for controlling at least one of a driving mechanism and a brake mechanism of a vehicle so as to make the difference between a target position and the actual position of the vehicle small, for example; a determining unit for determining whether the actual position follows the target position; and a target position setting unit for setting the target position that changes with the passage of time, when it is determined by the determining unit that the actual position follows the target position, and for setting the target position (time t1-t2) such that a change in the target position with the passage of time becomes smaller than that in the case where it is determined that the actual position follows the target position, when it is determined by the determining unit that the actual position does not follow the target position (time t1). |
