PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoconductor that suppresses stains on a background and has excellent durability.SOLUTION: There is provided a photoconductor having, on a conductive support, a photosensitive layer having a surface shape controlled as follows. In a curve connecting logarithms of arithmetic average roughness WRa(LLL) to WRa(HHH) of 11 frequency components excluding the minimum frequency component, out of the arithmetic average roughness of the total of 12 frequency components obtained by causing a one-dimensional data array of a rugged shape of a photosensitive layer that is measured with a surface roughness/contour shape measuring machine to multiple resolution analysis through wavelet conversion to separate the one-dimensional data array into six frequency components and thinning out to 1/10 to 1/100 to obtain a one-dimensional data array, and further causing the one-dimensional data array to be subjected to multiple resolution analysis through wavelet conversion to separate into additional six frequency components, WRa(LML) is 0.02 μm or more and 0.03 μm or less; WRa(LHL) is 0.006 μm or more and 0.01 μm or less; WRa(HLH) is 0.001 μm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
