Front wheels (6L, 6R) that can be steered using a steering mechanism (12) are attached to a vehicle body (2). A controller (30) determines that there is an error in the rotation angle sensor (28) or the proximity switch (29), if the steering angle (&thetas;) detected by the rotation angle sensor (28) and the detection results of the proximity switch (29) differ.
