To accurately diagnose partial discharge, the present invention relates to an apparatus for analyzing the pattern of partial discharge and detecting the location. The apparatus includes a partial discharge detection part which detects a partial discharge signal, a partial discharge signal analysis part which extracts a partial discharge signal in a predetermined reference band among partial discharge signals detected by the partial discharge detection part, analyzes patterns according to kinds of partial discharge signals in the reference band, and diagnoses partial discharge, and a group velocity analysis part which calculates a group velocity according to the transmission mode of the partial discharge corresponding to a certain kind diagnosed as partial discharge by the partial discharge signal analysis part and detects the generation position of partial discharge corresponding to a certain kind.
