PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emission treatment system and method suitable for simultaneously remediating nitrogen oxides (NO), particulate matter and gaseous hydrocarbons present in diesel engine exhaust streams.SOLUTION: In an emission treatment system and method, an oxidation catalyst 11 is positioned upstream of a soot filter 12 coated with a material effective in the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) of NOby a reductant, e.g., ammonia or the like; and an SCR catalyst composition is positioned on a wall flow monolith such that provides adequate catalyst loading but does not result in unsuitable back pressures in the exhaust.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
