PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wood club head allowing optimization of the size and location of a sweet spot to maximize the carry.SOLUTION: A golf club head 700 comprises a variable thickness profile comprising: a thick central portion 742; a transition portion 743; and a thin perimeter portion 744. The transition portion surrounds the thick central portion. The thin perimeter portion surrounds the transition portion. The thick central portion comprises a center 741, the center of the thick central portion located equidistant from a heel-most portion of the thick central portion and a toe-most portion of the thick central portion.
