Vehicular display systems often comprise a heads-up display (HUD) and a heads-down display (HDD) for providing more complex information to the driver than could be achieved with a conventional gauge. HDD projection apparatus can take up valuable space behind the dashboard, though. This application discusses a technique to save space behind the dashboard by reorienting the optical path of the HDD. At the same time, the realignment of the optical path allows the display means applied to the HDD also to be used for the HUD, thus reducing the number of parts needed. |
