The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a method and an apparatus for manufacturing an electrode for a secondary battery; an electrode for a secondary battery; and a secondary battery, wherein an increase in the volume of a battery device and the deformation of the battery device can be suppressed so as to improve the reliability thereof even if a short circuit between electrodes is prevented by an insulating member, and the performance as a battery can also be further improved. This electrode for a secondary battery having an electrode laminate structure in which a plurality of electrodes and separators are laminated, has a current collector 3 and an active material layer 2 formed on the surface of the current collector 3. The active material layer 2 includes a thick layer part and a thin layer part which is disposed on the end portion of the active material layer and has a thickness less than that of the thick layer part. The active material layer 2 is formed by discharging an active material-containing slurry toward the surface of the current collector 3 from a discharge port 12a of a die head 12 in which the active material-containing slurry is supplied through a coated valve 13. In the case of forming the thin layer part of the active material layer 2, a slurry supplied through the coated valve 13, which has a smaller degree of opening than in the case of forming the thick layer part, is discharged toward the current collector 3 from the discharge port 12a which is closer to the current collector 3 than in the case of forming the thick layer part. |
