Provided is a method for treating water containing hydrogen peroxide that is capable of efficiently breaking down hydrogen peroxide, and preventing the outflow of activated carbon from an activated carbon packed bed. A packed bed (2) of activated carbon is formed as a hydrogen-peroxide breakdown material in a container (1) having the top thereof open. Water containing hydrogen peroxide is supplied to a trough (3) positioned at the top of the container (1), and flows downward through the activated carbon bed (2) due to gravity, thereby causing the hydrogen peroxide to break down. The water containing hydrogen peroxide flows downward through the activated carbon bed (2) for a prescribed interval of time. After performing this flow step, the flow is temporarily stopped, and a dispersion step is performed for dispersing gas which has accumulated in the activated carbon bed (2) in an upward direction from the activated carbon bed (2). The flow step and the dispersion step are repeated in an alternating manner. |
