An end paper for use in hair waving comprises a tissue paper impregnated with an oil and an emulsifying agent for the oil. The oil may be a light mineral oil, arachis or olive oil or a synthetic oil such as isopropyl myristate. The emulsifying agent may be anionic, cationic or non-ionic and may be a soap, a higher alkyl sulphate or sulphonate, lauryl pyridinium sulphate, cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide or a polyethylene oxide compound of the formula RO(C2H4O)nR1, where R is an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkylaryl, or acyl group of at least 10 carbon atoms, R1 is an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkylaryl or acyl group or hydrogen, and n is greater than 2 and generally greater than 10, for example a polyethylene oxide sorbitan monolaurate or a polyethylene oxide ether alcohol. A suitable impregnating composition is a mixture of arachis oil and polyethylene glycol monooleate or a light mineral oil and a partial lauric acid ester of a polyoxyethylene ether. The composition may be liquid at room temperature and may be dissolved in acetone or carbon tetrachloride. The paper may be coated with a perfume and the impregnated paper may be applied to hair while the latter is wet with a relaxing solution.
