Spectral resource optimization within an optical network |

It is described a method, a device (100) and a computer program for optimizing a spectral resource allocation on an optical link (OL1) within an optical network (MON) a first network node (N1) with a neighboring second network node (N2). The method comprises (a) obtaining first information about a first spectral resource allocation used for a first data connection being established over the optical link (OL1); (b) obtaining second information about a second spectral resource allocation used for a second data connection being supposed to be established over the optical link (OL1); (c) comparing the first spectral resource allocation with the second spectral resource allocation; and (d) in the presence of a spectral overlap between the first spectral resource allocation and the second spectral resource allocation, changing at least one of the two spectral resource allocations in such a manner that the resulting new first spectral resource allocation is spectrally separated from the resulting new second spectral resource allocation. It is further described a method for optimizing spectral resource allocations for a plurality of optical links (OL1, OL2) which relies on the above mentioned method. |
