The device (10) has a conveying channel (14) formed by two oppositely- arranged and spaced side walls (16.1, 16.2) and two oppositely arranged- and spaced head end guidance walls (18.1, 18.2). The side walls are arranged between the guidance walls. Head ends of rod-shaped articles (12.1) are assigned to the guidance walls during conveying the articles in the channel. The channel is helically formed in a conveyance direction of the articles. Spacing between the guidance walls in a conveyer section of the channel is adjusted by head end guidance wall clearance adjusting units.
