The present invention relates to a safety injection system for cooling a reactor core in an emergency, comprising medium- and low-pressure injection subsystems which take water from a refueling water storage tank 1 located inside a containment enclosure 4 and supply it to the cold and hot legs of a primary coolant circuit. The safety injection subsystems are split into train A and train B: train A comprising medium- and low-pressure injection pumps A1 & A2 respectively; and train B comprising medium- and low-pressure injection pumps B1 & B2. All of said pumps and associated connection pipelines are located outside of containment 4, with the components of train A being located in a building (2, Fig 2) on one side of the containment enclosure 4, and the components of train B being located in a building (3) on the opposite side, thereby enabling the physical separation of the two trains. |
