A hood, in particular a front hood, for a motor vehicle body, comprises an outer skin (23, fig 9) and a stiffening structure covered by the outer skin. The stiffening structure comprises a nub plate 10 with a base plate 13 and nubs 14 deflected out of the base plate, which extends under the outer skin which may be made of plastic, and a second plate 10, on which apexes 15 of the nubs are fastened. The nubs may have a polygonal cross section with multiple side walls (18a-h, see figure 7) so that when both plates are brought together they are aligned with one another and the gaps between the nubs are filled out by opposing nubs of the other plate. Additionally the stiffening structure may comprise a frame (9, see figure 8) extending along the edges of the outer skin. |
