The present invention relates to a device and a method for confirming the position of a control rod in a nuclear reactor, wherein the position of a control rod can be measured by forming multiple trapezoid irregularities on the driving rod of the control rod and analyzing a signal pattern with respect to distances between the irregularities and sensors using a small number of the approximately three sensors. According to a characteristic of the present invention, the device for confirming the position of a control rod in a nuclear reactor including the driving rod of the control rod, which is connected to the head of the nuclear reactor at the upper part of the nuclear reactor and is connected to a control rod assembly to be raised and lowered by the driving coil of the control rod, comprises: the driving rod of the control rod having inclined irregularities formed continuously in the lengthwise direction of a main surface; three driving rod position detecting sensors for simultaneously detecting the convex parts, concave parts and inclined parts of the inclined irregularities; and a control means for confirming the position of the control rod by analyzing the pattern of detection signals simultaneously outputted from the driving rod position detecting sensors. In the above-mentioned configuration, the inclined irregularities are trapezoid irregularities, and the convex parts, the concave parts and the inclined parts are the convex surfaces, concave surfaces and inclined surfaces of the trapezoid irregularities respectively. The length of the convex surfaces and the concave surfaces and the vertical length of the inclined surfaces are identical to intervals between the three driving rod position detecting sensors. A horizontal surface is formed on the main surface directly located on the lower end surface of the driving rod of the control rod instead of the inclined surfaces, and the length of the main surface directly located under the upper end surface of the driving rod of the control rod is longer than or equal to the length of the convex surfaces. The three control rod position detecting sensors are an optical sensor, a magnetic field sensor and an ultrasonic sensor or a combination thereof. |
