A capacitive touch device is described. The capacitive touch device, such as an x-y touch pad, comprises a plurality of capacitive touch elements, wherein two or more non-adjacent capacitive touch elements are electrically connected. The touch elements may be in the form of rows and columns, where two or more non-adjacent rows are connected and/or two or more non-adjacent columns are connected. The touch device may comprise a controller having a plurality of input ports, wherein each input port may be connected to two or more touch elements. An article may incorporate the capacitive touch system, such as a map or a globe, a pamphlet or leaflet, a postcard or greetings card, or an article of clothing. The aim of the invention is to increase the size of a capacitive touch sensor without increasing the number of input ports on the controller. |
