PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide Cu-containing rare earth-iron-boron-based alloy powder used as the one for a permanent magnet, and to provide a method in which the same is efficiently produced at low cost by a reduction diffusion method.SOLUTION: In the method, raw material powder composed of rare earth oxide powder or rare earth oxide powder and rare-earth metal powder, iron-containing powder and boron-containing powder is mixed with a reducing agent in an amount sufficient for reducing the oxide powder to produce Cu-containing rare earth-iron-boron-based alloy powder by a reduction diffusion method. The method for producing Cu-containing rare earth-iron-boron-based alloy powder is characterized in that, as the raw material powder, copper-containing powder is further mixed in such a manner that its compositional range is controlled to 0.003 to 1.5 wt.% in terms of Cu, the mixture is held at 900 to 1,200°C for ≥0.5 hr in an inert gas atmosphere and is heat-treated, and the obtained reaction product mixture is subjected to wet treatment, and is thereafter dried. The Cu-containing rare earth-iron-boron-based alloy powder is obtained by the production method. |
