PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a banknote handling device and a banknote handling method in which a large quantity of banknotes can be stored, depositing processing of a large quantity of banknotes can be performed by one time transaction, and the banknotes which are input to the inside from the outside of the casing by a banknote input port can be temporarily reserved in a temporary reserving storage cassette having an approximately same capacity as that of the storage cassette.SOLUTION: A banknote handling device 10 includes: a plurality of storage cassettes 40 having approximately the same capacity with each other and arranged in parallel approximately along a horizontal direction in a bottom of a casing 12; and a temporary reserving storage cassette 42 arranged at one end of a plurality of storage cassettes 40 and having approximately the same capacity as that of the storage cassette 40. The banknotes which are input to the inside from the outside of the casing 12 by a deposit/withdrawal port 20 are temporarily reserved in a temporary reserving storage cassette 42, and after the decision of the banknote reception processing, the banknotes are conveyed to each storage cassette 40 from the temporary reserving storage cassette 42. |
