The present invention relates to a multi-stage automatic transmission for a vehicle. The multi-stage automatic transmission for a vehicle comprises a gear train composed of six friction members comprising four planetary gear sets (10, 20, 30, 40), a first, a second, a third, and a fourth clutch (C1, C2, C3, C4), and a first and a second brake (B1, B2). 10 forward shift stages and one reverse shift stage are realized by various arrangements of the first, the second, the third, and the fourth clutch (C1, C2, C3, C4) with respect to a rotation element. More specifically, the speed is changed by a sequential shifting method where one of the friction members (C1, C2, C3, C4, B1, B2) is released and another one is fastened. |
