PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared absorber excellent in infrared absorptivity at 5-10 μm of wavelength, and hardly foaming even when molded at about 200°C, and to provide a production method therefor.SOLUTION: An infrared absorber includes, as a main component, a synthetic magnesium carbonate anhydride having 0.5-15 m/g of BET specific surface area and 0.5-15 μm of average particle size, and is produced by hydrothermal-treating neutral magnesium carbonate (MgCOnHO) in an autoclave, followed by drying. A heat insulating resin composition is provided by blending 1-50 mass% of the infrared absorber per 100 mass% of a synthetic resin. |
