<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detector capable of reliably fusion-detecting obstacles while decelerating a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle-mounted obstacle detector for detecting obstacles around a vehicle includes: a stereo camera and a camera ECU which captures images of the surrounding of a vehicle to detect image data of obstacles; a millimeter wave sensor which emits electromagnetic wave and receives reflected waves thereof to detect positional information of the obstacles; a fusion detector which fusion-detects the obstacles in the surrounding using the image data of the obstacles detected by the camera ECU and the positional information thereof detected by the millimeter wave sensor; and a detection range setting unit which sets the detection range of the fusion detector to a first range when deceleration rate of the vehicle is less than a threshold value B, and sets the detection range to a second range, which is greater than the first range, when the deceleration rate is equal to or greater than the threshold value B. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
