A therapeutic agent effective against malaria comprises table salt coated with an anti-malarial organic compound, e.g. 2 : 4-diamino-5 - p - chlorophenyl - 6 - ethylpyrimidine ("Daraprim," Registered Trade Mark), 8-(4-amino - 1 - methylbutylamino) - 6 - methoxyquinoline (Primaquine), 7-chloro-4-(4-diethylamino - 1 - methylbutylamino) - quinoline (chloroquine), which may be present within the limits 1 : 500-5000 parts of table salt. A layer of wax-like material e.g. polyethylene glycol having molecular weight in excess of 1000 may first be applied to the table salt and the antimalerial coated to this. The coating operation occurs in a revolving pan, the table salt being wetted with a solution in an organic solvent of the wax, if used, dried, and then with a solution of the antimalarial salt, and then dried. |
