The present invention concerns a suspension system for a bicycle comprising a chassis referred to as a frame (1), a front fork (6) carrying the hub shaft of a front steering wheel (7) and comprising a first shock absorber referred to as a front shock absorber (8), a fixed arm or an oscillating arm (16) articulated to the frame (1), carrying the hub shaft (19) of a rear drive wheel (20) and optionally a second shock absorber referred to as a rear shock absorber (25) of which the ends are rigidly connected respectively to the frame (1) and to the oscillating arm (16), the drive torque being transmitted to the drive wheel (20) by a chain (21) extending between a drive gear (14) rigidly connected to the frame and a driven gear (22) rigidly connected to the hub shaft (19) of the drive wheel (20), and at least one sensor referred to as a shock sensor (30) capable of determining when the steering wheel (7) passes over an obstacle, said sensor (30) being connected to a control unit (28) controlling the front shock absorber (8) on the basis of the signal transmitted by said sensor (30); said system is remarkable in that it comprises at least means for detecting pedalling referred to as a pedalling sensor (29) connected to the control unit (28) that adjusts the compression control of the front (8) and/or rear (25) shock absorber on the basis of the signal indicating the presence of pedalling, a speed signal (6) from the front fork and an acceleration signal from the bottom end of the front fork (6). |
