PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starter which can quickly restart an engine E/G even if there arises a restart requirement during the inertial rotation of the engine E/G, and can suppress the deterioration of a life of a main contact 6 and the deterioration of a life of the engine starter caused by the wear of a brush 10.SOLUTION: When there arises the restart requirement during the inertial rotation of the engine E/G, motor energization control is executed, the number of revolutions of a pinion 3 is increased, and when a circumferential speed between the pinion 3 and a ring gear 5 becomes low, pinion extrusion control and current bypass-off are executed. When the current bypass-off is executed, a bypass contact 18 is opened by an auxiliary switch 8, and thereby a drive voltage of a motor 2 is suppressed by a resistor 7. By this, since an increase of the number of revolutions of the motor is limited, the pinion 3 and the ring gear 5 can be engaged with each other while keeping the circumferential speed between the pinion 3 and the ring gear 5. |
