[Problem] To obtain new zinc oxide particles that have a tetrahedral shape and/or a paired-tetrahedron shape and are suitable for use in cosmetics, heat-dissipating fillers and the like, and to obtain zinc carbonate salt particles that serve as a starting material for the zinc oxide particles. [Solution] Zinc carbonate salt particles having a tetrahedral shape and/or a paired-tetrahedron shape and a median diameter of at least 0.1 mum, and zinc oxide particles having a tetrahedral shape and/or a paired-tetrahedron shape and a median diameter of at least 0.1 mum, which are obtained via the thermolysis of the zinc carbonate particles. |
