Producing completely or partially water-soluble tetraalkylbisphosphate comprises (i) reacting tetrachlorobisphosphate with at least one alcohol, (ii) reacting the reaction mixture from step (i) with a base, (ii) adding water to the reaction mixture from the step (ii), (iv) adding at least one alcohol, which is different from the alcohol used in the step (i) and a solvent to the reaction mixture from step (iii) to form a mixture comprising two liquid phases, and (v) separating the phase comprising the tetraalkylbisphosphate from the mixture obtained in the step (iv). Producing completely or partially water-soluble tetraalkylbisphosphate comprises (i) reacting tetrachlorobisphosphate with at least one alcohol, (ii) reacting the reaction mixture from step (i) with a base comprising at least one salt of formula ((Kat(n +>)) a(X(m ->)) b) (I), when at least 50% of the phosphorus-chlorine groups present in tetrachlorobisphosphate is reacted in the step (i), (ii) adding water to the reaction mixture from the step (ii), (iv) adding at least one alcohol, which is different from the alcohol used in the step (i) and a solvent, which is not completely miscible with water to the reaction mixture from step (iii) to form a mixture comprising two separate liquid phases, and (v) separating the phase comprising the tetraalkylbisphosphate from the mixture obtained in the step (iv). Kat(n +>) : cation of charge n; X(m ->) : anion of charge m; and a, b : integers, where nx a = mx b. [Image]. |
