The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material for a secondary battery and a manufacturing method thereof and, more specifically, to a positive electrode active material and a manufacturing method thereof, maximizing high capacity characteristics and stability characteristics of a battery by placing a gradient on a distribution among transition metal elements included in a positive electrode active material particle. The positive electrode active material has the transition metal elements with high capacity characteristics which are distributed at the center of a positive electrode active material particle in high concentration, and the transition metal elements having high stability characteristics which are distributed on a surface portion of the positive electrode active material particle in high concentration. The positive electrode active material is effective in the manufacture of a high capacity battery and is very safe under a high temperature condition. In addition, the positive electrode active material particle has a barrier region of a fluorine based polymer resin formed therein, so a concentration gradient of each metal element can be maintained even through high temperature sintering and plastic fixity. |
